Tutoring approach

Beginning with a discussion with the student a plan is devised that accommodates the needs of the individual through the formulation and proof reading of coursework and/or the preparation for examinations.
The service provided offers communication by e mail (usually with a 24 hour (turnaround) and/or Skype with an emphais on clear, coherent support.

 

Professional experience

Dr Alan Sanderson is a part-time lecturer at Truro and Penwith College and on-line PhD Tutor, after retiring from his full-time role as Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Community, Social Enterprise and Management Degree at the College. Previously he was responsible for the Community Studies (Development and Youth Work) Foundation Degree and for the Counselling Studies Foundation Degree.
He has wide experience in the effective leadership, management and administration of Private, Public and Voluntary Sector Organisations gained from career spanning forty-four years.
After a successful career in the Financial Services Sector, where he held several managerial posts with large institutions before directing his own business, he re-entered full-time education in 1997 with the intention of exploring the possibility of becoming an academic. He taught at Plymouth University from 2002 until 2007 contributing to the delivery of Social Policy, Community Work and Public Services Programmes at level 6.
He completed his doctorate entitled “Managing Community: A Philosophical Analysis of Praxis” in October 2007. This work lead to several publications, including the co-authorship of two books, “The Situational Logic of Social Actions,” published by Nova Publishers in February 2009, and “Reading a Relational Situation” published by Nova Publishers in May 2009.
His current projects are the publication of his updated dissertation in 2015 and the development of his latest research project entitled “Cornish Deprivation: Promoting Well-being during a time of Austerity.”
He is the External Examiner for a Social Care (Adult and Community) FdA and BA (Hons) Degree at Leeds City College. He has also acted as an academic advisor for validation panels at New College Durham and Blackpool and the Flyde College. Alan is also a trustee for two Cornish Charities involved in the provision of health and social care.
