Tutoring approach

Students respond best to education when it is taught by someone with whom they are comfortable. My tutorial sessions are always given with a smile, encouragement and plenty of enthusiasm. However, pupils will be expected to actively participate and demonstrate willingness to learn in order to inspire the confidence in themselves to be able to comprehend and complete the work on their own at school and in exams.

 

Professional experience

I have had formal work experience teaching 'Of Mice and Men' to a group of struggling 14 year old children in order to prepare them for GCSE coursework. These students were my sole responsibility, over whom I had complete discretion as to the method and formality of their education. Following their exams, their teacher reported to me that they all achieved grades A-C, thereby surpassing that which was expected of them.
I have also had informal teaching experience both as a classroom assistant in a high school, assisting classes for children aged 12-15 but also as a leader in a youth movement whereby I have taught religious education to children aged 5-16.
I also have experience as a nanny teaching basic maths (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to children aged 4 and 6.
