My lessons are tailored to the goals of the individual student. The specific ideas that are taught are based on what the student wants to be able to do and how I can facilitate the process of the student achieving those aims.
I have extensive experience in the creative aspects of live and recorded music. I think it is important to not only help to develop a students creative voice but also to go beyond the idea of just teaching the mechanics of learning an instrument. Showing students how to apply the skills they learn in my lessons to real life musical situations is an important aspect of playing an instrument effectively and one that I think it is imperative to focus on and develop.
I am a dedicated and passionate guitarist with over 13 years of playing experience. I am a prolific writer and composer and I have been involved in a wide variety of projects over the years including: Rock, Math, Prog, Pop, Experimental, Improvisational, Hip- Hop, Reggae, Dance, Punk and Blues.
My session playing experience includes a range of styles from delicate folk music to black metal. I am available for both live and recording sessions. References can be provided.
I have a high level of ability and I am able to learn material quickly and accurately. I have excellent equipment and I can provide a comprehensive list upon request.
I currently write and play in three projects, which are:
ANTA - Heavy riff laden prog/psych/kraut/doom band with intricate, densely composed, groove orientated compositions.
LEG - An alternative pop band with influences of Math, Psychedelia and Shoegaze. LEG features highly competent musicians with a sensitivity and developed awareness for songwriting.
Ogives - My solo project, which is experimental in nature and is influenced by film soundtracks and modern minimalist composers. I use guitar, effects and production to create a wide range of sounds from noise art and post rock soundscapes to intricate layered guitar lines.
I'm also involved in a couple of musical collectives and I occasionally write short film soundtracks.
If you would like me to provide any other info please let me know.
