Preparation - The first session is primarily about collaborating on an individual plan that will outline abilities and give clear goals. This will allow me to track and monitor each student's individual progress.
Communication - I believe that the ability to break concepts down into their component parts and communicate complex ideas simply is essential. This combined with building a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for learning is the key to success.
Experience - I feel it's very important for students to appreciate that I have been through and overcome the challenges of education myself. These personal experiences allow me to relate add value to my teaching.
Professional experience
As a sixth form student I took part in Surrey University's Schools Without Walls Scheme - a program that allowed me to develop tutoring skills with younger pupils at my school/sixth form (GCSE-A level).
At university, as president of the Biochemistry and Genetics Society (in my third year), I organised and took part in numerous tutoring and revision sessions organised for those in their first and second year. This is an activity I also took part in during my second year (as the societies treasurer), for the first year students.
I feel that these experiences have prepared me and allowed me to develop the skills necessary to become a professional tutor.

You will meet your tutor in our online classroom, where you will see each other via video, hear each other and be able to upload documents and draw on a whiteboard.
