Tutoring approach

Graduate from the University of Manchester with a first class MusB in Music.
I'm a jazz and classical clarinet and saxophonist. I have experience with orchestral, solo and pit playing. I run my own jazz band and function band in the local area, as well as being a member of a local Klezmer ensemble.

I am also a keen instrumental and electro acoustic composer, having had works commissioned and performed by the university's new music ensemble. I have been involved in a student-run chamber choir and I sing with the national gold and bronze medal winning Barbershop chorus, the latter for which I am the treasurer.

I have been a general member, concert manager and secretary of the Manchester Universiy Music Society.

I have volunteered to provide music for a theatre for young people with learning disability. I have also worked with Classical Evolution to bring classical music to children at the Just So Festival.

I mainly have experience with beginners but I can teach up to grade 8 for clarinet and saxophone. I can also: teach flute up to grade 5; focus on jazz and improvisation; give the student a grounding in music theory, analysis and appreciation using my wide and eclectic musical background.
