Tutoring approach

As I've had my own struggles in certain subjects in school, I took tutoring lessons myself. Sitting on the other side of that table has massively taught me how to interact with my tutoring students myself. Whether preparing my them for A-levels, a great trip through an English/German speaking country, exams at university or simply to improve oral and/or writing experience, together we have successfully accomplished their aim. It is of great importance to me to concentrate on the student's wishes and what it is they want to take away from their lessons. I tailor every session individually to every student, their level and their learning goals. From the annoying but important grammatical fundament, over oral and written understanding as well as communication, to vocabulary expansion and pronunciation, it is of great importance to me to never forget about one thing: fun! I'm always trying to bring creative ways of learning a language into my tutoring in order to show how much fun learning a language can actually be!

 

Professional experience

I have been tutoring English to all ages, levels and interests for the past seven years. Since I was little, I had a profound interest in the English language and have been studying it ever since. I have lived in and traveled through multiple English speaking countries and have therefore collected a lot of cultural aspects to the language as well. For the past years, I have studied English studies at University of Graz in Austria and have received very valuable education, which has not only broadened my mind in the field of English linguistics but in literary studies as well. This has put another special approach to my tutoring. I have recently moved to London to continue my English studies at University of Westminster.
As I am Austrian and my mother tongue is German, I have been in the privileged position of being able to teach German, which is known to not particularly be the easiest of languages, and have successfully shared my knowledge, routine and cultural aspects with my tutoring students for the past five years. Teaching your mother tongue to fellow students is an experience on a whole new level and equally challenging as it is fun.
