Tutoring approach
I am a very friendly and approachable tutor. I currently run an independent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) social enterprise company. This involves extensive communications training of teachers and professional development. I also run the Yorkshire Planetarium. My experience means I can relate and communicate with young people very effectively. I can also explain complicated science ideas in an understandable way.
My last but one teaching position was at Charterhouse one of the UK`s top boarding school, at Charterhouse I taught Pre-U physics and iGSCE Chemistry and Physics.
I have just completed a year as the Head of Physics in Milan, Italy, I am returning to the UK in August. In Italy I have been teaching IB physics and Mathematics and also the iGCSE in Physics and Mathematics.
Professional experience
Over fifteen years experience in tutoring and science education. I previously worked for the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory as an outreach and communications manager. I lecture, teach and work on education projects throughout England. From working with primary children building rockets to advising government on science education policy - my work is varied and engaging. I work for private education tutoring companies and in referral units - no child`s problems or gifted abilities are out of my reach to deal with. I have worked with many types of learning disabilities and can utilise my experience to target individual strengths and weaknesses by applying appropriate learning methodologies.
