Tutoring approach
I take a student-led approach and focus on working on the areas which either they feel that they are weak in or alternatively are interested in and would like to expand their knowledge further. I also help students fully understand the basics of the subject before they develop their skills, so that the foundations of knowledge are steady. I believe that learning is not just about swallowing facts and numbers, but that the process of learning itself should help a student's personal growth.
Professional experience
I started tutoring privately in the school holidays a few years ago and have seen great results. As a Classicist with a First from Oxford University and currently studying for a Masters in Cambridge University, my knowledge of Latin and Ancient Greek is excellent and I enjoy helping students discover these oft-forgotten but very enriching languages. One of my greatest triumphs was guiding a student who had only studied Latin for two years to achieving an A grade in her Higher exam. I also have experience in tutoring Maths, a subject which I earned a 7 in the International Baccalaureate.
