I believe that the key to good teaching is in the relationship between the student and the teacher, coupled with the teacher’s ability to make the subject material interesting and relevant. I personally find that mathematics can be a fascinating subject, and I attempt to transmit this interest to my tutees.
I am a Competent and friendly maths graduate with an excellent ability to communicate concepts and unlock potential. I offer tailored tuition to support each student’s needs; building on their strengths while making sure to target their weaknesses. In the first session I always have a discussion with the student, and work to understand which areas will require the most focus. We will set objectives based around their competencies, which we will then review regularly.
I have a real passion for both teaching and maths, and am equipped with the understanding and enthusiasm required to help all students achieve the success they’re capable of.
If you have any questions for me, please feel free to get in touch.
I graduated with a 2.1 in Mathematics from the University of Aberdeen in 2012. Upon graduating I began working in the Financial Sector, working for RBS, HSBC and for the last two years as a Risk Analyst in Leeds.
In this most recent role, my managers identified my ability to communicate ideas in a clear and accessible way. For this reason - along with my approachable demeanour - I was offered responsibility for the teaching and mentoring of the new graduate analysts.
Despite the nature of what we did as a company being fairly maths-heavy, through breaking down the processes into manageable bite-size chunks, I was able to communicate effectively and establish a high level of understanding.
