Tutoring approach

I am currently studying at Edge Hill University to become a primary school teacher. I have successfully completed many practical teaching placement where I have planned, taught and assessed whole class lessons.
I am an extremely energetic motivated person. Currently throughout my degree I am constantly learning new skills and knowledge to help me to become a knowledgeable, reflective practitioner who is always eager to learn and develop myself. I consider my biggest strengths being my ability to plan effective teaching activities and to make learning a fun experience for children.
I have a strong passion for reading and try to promote this love of books through my teaching. I have led after-school multisensory reading sessions to help promote reading. I find that children gain more from this approach to reading as all of their senses are being utilised allowing learning to be more memorable. During Literacy and Numeracy lessons I have been assigned my own group of low ability year 2 students, I work with these children to help prepare them for their year 2 SAT’s papers.
My current role demands that I have a thorough understanding of the different learning styles of children, i.e. auditory, kinaesthetic and visual and how once identified the delivery can be tailored to their personalized learning so that they can achieve and become more independent learners. My own life experiences have given me the empathy with many pupils with whom I come into contact. My current role has me working with those pupils who are most likely to need the support of a more personalized approach. I know how to use strategic methods to enhance the pupils learning whether it be 1-1, group work or personal tutorials.
During lessons I regularly give feedback to pupils on the progress they are making because I understand it is important to them to get this in order to progress and achieve. I set clear boundaries in terms of behaviour that we as a school expect and use many behaviour management techniques which I have learnt over the years to ensure that I get the best of the pupils.
