Tutoring approach
I believe that every learner is unique, and therefore take the time to elicit my pupils' preferred learning styles and exact needs (be it help with general understanding or exam technique etc). Learning should also be fun, varied and rewarding, and so I make use of a range of activities and keep my lessons fully interactive with plenty of opportunities for my pupils to see their progress. There is no such thing as a silly question, and so I actively encourage my pupils to ask as many as they wish until they are confident in their understanding.
Professional experience
I am a fully qualified science teacher with 2 years of experience teaching biology, chemistry and physics in the classroom at KS3 to A Level. As a teacher, I have also supported many pupils with their UCAS forms, and have taught interview technique and communication skills on a regular basis. I have been a private science tutor for 5 years, offering both one-to-one and small group tuition. I also run regular revision workshops and lectures for undergraduate Medical Sciences students at the University of Nottingham.
