Tutoring approach
My tutoring approach is friendly and engaging. I tailor the materials to best suit the student. I do this by finding out how the student learns best and their ensuring different approaches are used so the student can not only apply it to their exams, but so they also understand the concepts.
Professional experience
At the age of 16 I began tutoring year 7 and 8 students to help improve their English and Maths.
Whilst at University, I took up an internship with Nottingham Domestic Violence Forum, which entailed going into both Secondary and Primary Schools and educating them on domestic abuse and how it is presented in the media.
I also studied in Finland for six months on an Erasmus exchange. There I used my initiative to tutor adult learners in Business English. I also proof-read work to help students improve their coursework. Furthermore, I volunteered at the International Christian Centre to help students with their homework.
After graduation, I taught in China at the Wuhan Yangtze Business University. I taught English, both written and spoken. I also held private tuition for struggling students.
More recently, I took up a teaching assistant position at Harris Girls' Academy where I tutored small groups and offered one-to-one support. I helped in a range of subjects including: Child Development, Art, Business, and Science to name a few. My main area of support, however, was English. I supported GCSE and IGCSE students.
