Tutoring approach

I have a relaxed way of teaching that I feel benefits my students and they feel comfortable and willing to work harder to pick up the language. When my students are having difficulties with certain areas of learning I try to find new ways of explaining or demonstrating the language, while also encouraging them to make further attempts.

I am confident that any clients I teach on behalf of Tutor Tap would be completely satisfied with my teaching.

 

Professional experience

January 2015 – Date. English Language Trainer for Global LT, North East, UK
I am currently working as an English language trainer with individual students recently moved to the UK. Working on a 1:1 basis, I create individual curriculums for each student to focus on the areas most needed for their situation, whether business, or survival English. Lessons focus on the four main areas of English language learning: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Essential to this role is the need to overcome difficulties in communication with students, often needing to be innovative in finding new ways to explain vocabulary and grammar rules while also supporting students’ learning through engaging activities.

August 2012 – August 2013. Suzhou Education Association for Foreign Exchange - Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.
I taught English in three middle schools in Suzhou, China to students aged 14-15 years. My duties and responsibilities included preparing students for English speaking and listening tests; developing students' vocabulary; correcting students' pronunciation; and aiding Chinese colleagues with their English grammar and language skills.
Throughout the year I partook in extra teaching research activities, performed and observed demonstration lessons in order to improve the learning experience for the students, and taught at a deaf and blind school.
Groups of students from each of the schools I worked with were also entered into an English speaking competition and I dedicated extra time to work with them to prepare them for this.
I also gave lectures and presentations to the staff at each of the schools regarding English culture.
