Tutoring approach

I have a genuine passion for teaching and really enjoy my work. I try to build up a rapport with my students and I am always friendly and polite.

I believe that it's important that the student starts speaking English from the very beginning, even if they make mistakes. This is all part of the learning process. I always aim to create a positive environment and encourage the student to speak as much as possible.

I ensure that the student feels engaged and interested during the lesson. I regularly check that progress is taking place by asking questions, setting homework regularly and doing small tests with the student.

 

Professional experience

My name is Lina. I am a native British English speaker and English teacher living in Surrey, which is in South-East England. I was born in Russia but have lived in the UK from the age of 2. I have a near-native level of Russian and I also have a good level of French.

I have over three years experience teaching English. Whilst still at school I volunteered as a mentor to children aged 11-12. I helped them with their reading and homework and I also taught English to children from other countries. During my year abroad in Russia as part of my Bachelors degree, I worked as a teaching assistant at the Anglo-American School of Moscow. The syllabus was multi-disciplinary and taught through the medium of English. I helped teachers to plan lessons and supervise and manage the class.

I currently work as a freelance private tutor of English language. I teach two adult students at elementary and intermediate level. I also work with OTUK (Online Teachers UK). I give lessons on Skype. I teach both children and adults at beginner, elementary and intermediate level.

I have completed my Cambridge CELTA – an internationally recognised course for teachers of English as a foreign language. I am excited to be teaching with Tutortap and look forward to helping you with your English. My hobbies include: reading, swimming, and cycling.
