Everyone learns differently, and I try to tailor my approach across the first couple of session in order to ensure that your child will feel focused and comfortable. In general, though, I like to centre my teaching around interactive materials like articles, pictures, videos and so on, so as to make learning enjoyable, stimulate thought and put our learning into practical application. I usually ask pupils to prepare a small amount of work before our sessions so that we have something to discuss, keeping them engaged from the word "go".
I have been tutoring for three years, from secondary school entrance to GCSE level, in subjects including English, French, Religious Studies, Critical Thinking and Public Speaking. After helping out my first pupil with school entrance, French went from being one of his weakest subjects to his best result in the mock common entrance exams.
I have also worked as a mentor at a summer school in Cambridge. The role there entailed responsibility for the wellbeing of ten children aged 15-17, as well as helping them with homework and advising them on university applications. With other mentors, I also organised and ran a programme of extra-curricular activities for a total of 60 kids.
