I am a confident and passionate teacher who enjoys sharing what I know. My approach to teaching is built on freedom, creativity, and the importance of communicating. Professional experience
Max’s musical studies began when he was 7 years old when he took an interest in the piano. Soon after he was composing short pieces, although he was unable to write them down. It was not until he was 17 that he started to write down his ideas.
He has just finished a BMus Music with Year Abroad at The University of Birmingham where his teachers included Michael Zev Gordon, Daria Kwiatkowska and Annie Mahtani. In 2013-14 he spent the academic year studying on international exchange at The University of Western Ontario, Canada, studying composition with David Myska, and orchestration with Omar Daniel.
Max has had compositions workshopped and played by Laura Moody, Kerry Andrew, Mary Wiegold, Ensemble Paramirabo and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. His piece Hyper-Reality was performed in the University of Birmingham Summer Festival 2015 on MiniBEAST.
He has also had lessons and masterclasses with Bushra El-Turk, Sean Clancy, John Woolrich, and Owen Underhill.
2011 – Sound and Music Summer School: Vocal Music, with Kerry Andrew (Brunhilde’s Ride to Hell).
2013 – Universitas 21 Bursary: National University of Singapore: Southeast Asia in Context (Ethnomusicology essay on the implications of tourism in Southeast Asia).
2013 – Dartington International Summer School: Song, with Dominic Muldowney.
2015 – Dartington International Summer School (Supported by The Radcliffe Trust): Multimedia, Art and Sound Design, with Kathy Hinde and Matt Fairclough.
In September 2015 he will start Postgraduate Studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

You will meet your tutor in our online classroom, where you will see each other via video, hear each other and be able to upload documents and draw on a whiteboard.
