I just recently Graduated in History from the University of Dundee. It is my dream to be a teacher and I think that tutoring would be a fantastic way to gain experience in teaching, not only that it will be a fulfilling experience.
Why do I think I would make a good tutor? Well I don't think it has anything to do with my degree or my highers. I think it's all about my personality, my patience and my ability to listen. I'm renowned for my people skills. I feel I have a personality that engages people, I've often been praised for this by my superiors.
My people skills are essential in tutoring or teaching because I think it's important for kids to be interested in what they are studying. Lets be honest if you're getting taught History or English by someone who knows all the facts, but they can't engage with you or spark your interest and enthusiasm then it's going to be very hard for you to concentrate. I have that ability to spark kids enthusiasm and interests, and that's why I know I'll be a good tutor and some day a good teacher.
Obviously as you will see from my profile I have a Degree in History and various Highers that I obtained from school.
However I think that my important professional experiences are the ones that have allowed me to build upon my greatest skills which are those of communication, presentation and all other forms of people skills. I have often been praised by my tutors, teachers and work peers for my level of customer service skills and people skills and I think that it is my personality that I bring to the table, I can engage with adaults and kids and I really work hard to find ways to make people interested and enthusiastic about what Im talking about.
