Tutoring approach

I assess a student's calibre and needs, and adopt my teaching strategy accordingly. Also, I provide extensive oral and written feedback to my students, and have found this technique to work wonders in most of the cases.

 

Professional experience

I hold MA English (Language and Literature) and MPhil Linguistics degrees, and am currently doing PhD Translation Studies from the University of Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. Prior to embarking on my PhD research as a full-time student, I taught English language, literature, and linguistics for a period of above seven years, around six years of which were spent as a lecturer in English at a public-sector university. The variety of courses/modules I taught included, but were not limited to, Communication Skills, Business Communication, English Grammar and Composition, Classical and Modern Drama, Phonetics and Phonology, and Stylistics. My command of the courses I taught, effective teaching methodology (a mix of lectures, class activities, peer evaluation, and so on), and helpful and caring attitude were found much helpful by my students, so much so that my students at the University selected me as the best English teacher for two consecutive years in the end-of-semester teacher evaluation.
