Tutoring approach

Personally, what helped me through my philosophy exams was time management and motivation. I hope to provide the same encouragment to current students. I also think it is helpful to be completley aware what is required by the examination board prior to the examination, so my first action would be to provide clear objectives which are necessary in order to achieve the best possible outcome for current students. As well as this, for me, philosophy is essentially about challenging views and producing sound arguments, it is not as such analytical but rather synthetic and as long as you can structure the answer and maintain a sound argument you will succeed in Philosophy! Therefore, I will use varied approaches to tackle this. For example, I will challenge the students opinion in order to enhance their reasoning and evidence for their claims. I will also frequently give practice questions as practice is key to success!

 

Professional experience

I have had first hand experience of studying philosophy as it was one of my chosen A-levels whereby I achieved an A grade. From this, I conformed what is expected in order to achieve the top grade. Although I now currently study Classical Civilisation at university, I still chose a philosophy module as an elective and achieved a 2:1.
