Tutoring approach

As a tutor, I aim to provide a solid grounding in the subject and help build confidence in students in answering exam questions and tackling unfamiliar problems. An initial assessment of student, which usually takes place in the presence of a parent, helps to identify the needs of student as well as the direction tuition should take. I start from topics students are familiar with and progress to more complex areas as their confidence grows. I use question and answer technique to continually check for understanding and also give regular homework for more hands on practice and provide feedback the following session.

 

Professional experience

I am an enthusiastic, determined and dedicated individual who is passionate about teaching both children and adults. My passion for teaching made me to further my education to the highest level- from a BSc. Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science (second class Upper division) to MSc. in Information Technology for Management (Distinction) at Coventry University, UK and now a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK.

During my PhD, I worked closely with 11-16 year old in game design and research and also helped to deliver programming modules to student. I have in the past, worked as a maths teacher and have also gained over one year experience in to providing one-to-one Maths tuition to young children in the convenience of their homes. For me, Mathematics come natural proven by a track record of excellence in mathematics: I had an A in my Maths GCSE, won a Maths scholarship during my Secondary school years and graduated with a second class upper division (2.1) in my first degree.

I am confident in the use of ICT- I have a very good understanding of computers, technologies (e.g. Microsoft packages, Skype, internet, programming, web designs, databases, html, SQL, JAVA, NetBeans, ActionScript etc.). I have professional qualifications in SAP (ERP Integration of Business Processes with my SAP ERP) and Advanced Certificate in Information Technology.
