Tutoring approach
I believe that it is important to have a solid understanding of the underlying scientific processes when learning, as this is important for exam technique and applying knowledge to the unfamiliar scenarios posed in exam questions.
I will work systematically through the syllabus, addressing any concerns or question the student may have. Initially, I will prompt the student to work out the answer with my guidance, but I understand that sometimes a more direct explanation is necessary to make sure the student has a clear understanding of the concept.
Professional experience
Throughout sixth form I acted as a student ambassador for maths, biology and chemistry. This involved tutoring lower year students, including those studying for their GCSEs. This has helped me keep on top of the curriculum that these students study and has also helped me develop my tutoring style.
