Tutoring approach entails the following;
Short-term tuition: offering a programme of intensive revision and preparation taken up prior to an exam.
Long-term tuition: student is facing particular challenges in certain areas and requires ongoing input from to support their education in school, specifically tailored to meet their needs. Situations can vary from students who are not receiving sufficient attention in the school environment (due to class size or other issues); where the student is experiencing particular learning difficulties; or even where exceptional students are not being sufficiently challenged or motivated by the curriculum and are seeking additional challenges.
Extra focus and tailored attention of specialised one-to-one personal tuition can be the decisive factor that will make the difference to successful learning and good exam grades, ensuring that students gain the most benefit from their mainstream educational activities and fulfil their academic potential. Planning, management and initiating activities that will facilitate learning
Communicating with learners; establish relationships with new learners, communicate appropriately and providing support and encouragement. Integrating ICT tools; Using Web pages for communication with and between learners, email, bulletin boards, discussion forums, audio and video conferencing.
Reflecting on student and tutor experiences; assessing learner’s performance, evaluating and continuously improving tutoring support.
Academically experienced Postgraduate in Employability and Entrepreneurship, and Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Counselling. Personal drive and motivation, entails setting high standards for self, keen to achieve, using a pro-active approach in pursuing a career in Mathematics. Having a vast amount of work-experience, within educational settings.
Current work-experience in a mainstream school involves preparing and delivering lessons to a range of students of various ages and abilities. Marking work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of student’s progress and development. Individually tailoring interventions for Special Educational Needs (SEN) students including; Learning Difficulties, Autism, Dyslexia.
Concerned with helping children and young people who are experiencing problems within education and in the community with the aim of enhancing their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development through providing interventions one-one and for small-groups of students.
Developing a range of methods to support students who have, for any reason, been withdrawn from mainstream lessons. Facilitating their return to mainstream lessons. Accompanying students during the initial phases of their reintegration to lessons to smooth the transition. Keep up to date records while students are withdrawn from mainstream lessons, in order to measure their progress and suggest next steps for improvement.
Assessing the needs of students and using detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students learning. Establishing productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom.
Encouraging students to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all students in activities. Promoting independence and employing strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance. Providing feedback to students in relation to progress and achievement.
Developing and implement Individuals Education Plans. Supporting students consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs. Liaising with teaching staff to ensure smooth transition from withdrawal programmes to mainstream teaching, organising and managing appropriate learning environment and resources. Providing objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on student achievement.
Progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence. Recording progress and achievement in lessons and activities systematically and providing
evidence of range and level of progress and attainment. Working within an established discipline policy to anticipate and manage behaviour constructively, promoting self-control and independence. Supporting the role of parents in students learning and contributing to lead meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on student progress/achievement.
Production of lesson plans, worksheet and plans. Monitor and evaluating student’s responses to learning activities through a range of assessments and monitoring strategies against pre-determined learning objectives. Within an agreed system of supervision to evaluate and adjust lessons/work plans as appropriate. Administering and assessing tests.
Participating in staff briefings, parent’s evenings and training events for continuous professional development. Liaising with professionals such as, Learning Mentors, Lead Practitioners and other appropriate members of staff to ensure communication is fluent across the board.
