Tutoring approach
I fully believe in an individualised creative teaching approach whereby each student is supported differently, dependent on their learning backgrounds, their own expectations and individual learning style and needs. I spend some time at the start of the tutoring process getting to know each student, pinpointing what motivates and excites them in order to best support their learning. I can provide a range of learning resources, including links to insightful websites and videos aimed at offering different access routes to different subjects, while offering my own experience and knowledge. Ultimately, I believe in a relaxed but focused approach to tutoring, as I feel students perform better when engaging in a trusting, friendly professional relationship, with a supportive and motivating mentor rather than a preaching teacher.
Professional experience
I am a fully qualified teacher with great experience of supporting pupils aged 4 - 18, across the whole curriculum. I currently teach primary children, aged 4 - 11 including those with various special educational needs, and so have lots of different approaches and resources available to me ignored to best support each individual learner dependent on their individual needs. I also have around five years experience of tutoring secondary pupils on a one-to-one basis, with excellent results; every pupil I have supported has given very positive feedback, including comments on a respectful and trusting relationship, building a friendly and professional rapport, using creative teaching techniques to help make light of difficult subjects and motivate students to continue striving for their best possible results.
