Although I've always had a passion for English and a strong drive to learn, I found Mathematics more difficult and had to seek the help of a tutor myself. Having been on either side of the tutor-student relationship, makes me more sensitive to the specific needs and requirements that one individual has.
Ultimately, I believe that the inter-personal relationship between student and teacher is essential in creating an environment that will aid learning. With the emphasis put on personal growth, knowledge, and confidence in a learning environment, I believe that success will follow regardless of the questions on the exam papers!
Professional experience
I have a huge passion for English Literature and I have experience in tutoring English whilst I was taking my A-Levels. As a Prefect for the English Department, tutoring was a big part of my responsibilities and something I thoroughly enjoyed. I was lucky enough to be taught by an extremely inspiring teacher and the effect that had upon me was a profound one.
I have experience teaching after school drama lessons at a then local primary school and work experience at a school for teenagers with special needs, so I fully understand the responsibility, the challenges and also the expansive rewards of working with younger or less able people.
