Tutoring approach
I have a very hands-on approach to tutoring. I believe it is easier to store information in the brain when it is learnt through interactions rather than just words and I do my very best to incorporate this into my lessons and study plans. I do not believe an exam can be correctly prepared for by reading for hours so I will break up presentations and lessons with regular conversations, making sure my student understands every step of the way. I ensure the use of pictures and colors to assist with learning and particularly revising and I provide personal work to be completed away from the session which will incorporate the students use of initiative and research. I feel this better prepares students for the world of higher education and I am passionate about my students achieving the best possible grades.
Professional experience
I am a Zoology graduate, obtaining a BSc Honours in June 2014 from Aberystwyth University. during my time at University, I was a mentor, tutor and coach to fellow students and pupils studying at the sixth form college nearby. I personally planned and executed presentations, workshops and revision sessions for my period at the University. During my third and final year I began to coach biology A level students on a professional basis along with Students from the university on a one-on-one personal level. this included the preparation of revision guides, workbooks to be completed and lessons carried out to help my students achieve great results in exams and provide the support needed to complete excellent coursework.
