Tutoring approach

I am PhD student, with a first class honours undergraduate degree in Psychology. I went straight from undergraduate to PhD and have been passionate about adding knowledge ever since. My work involves research into chronic pain treatments. The role of PhD student is very complex, in effect I am my own boss, its up to me to motivate myself and to make and achieve my own deadlines. I project manage my own project and am consistently trying to get my research out into the public domain to add to the knowledge.

I have a SEDA teaching qualification which I obtained whilst doing my PhD. This qualification enables me to teach at University level and I have taught up to masters level. I am able to teach Psychology, in addition to research methods.

I have very recent experience of the education process and therefore believe I offer some valuable insight into being a student. I am adaptable and highly motivated, in addition to be being approachable and professional.

I have worked with a variety of different patient groups whilst conducting research, including patients with brain injury and chronic pain. This experience has allowed me to improve my communication skills vastly and also my ability to adapt to individual needs.
