I am a very encouraging teacher and like to create a fun, 'two-way' environment in which to teach - students learn most effectively in a positive, convivial environment after all! I have an excellent record of results from students and have always maintained all my students year after year until their studies are complete.
I like to test my students continually by having them 'teach' me how to answer exam questions. This assessment technique allows me to ensure that their understanding is thoroughly correct and it solidifies their memory and inspires confidence in their ability. Statistically, if an individual teaches something to someone else, they are around 5 times more likely to remember it!
Professional experience
GCSE/AS/A2 Maths, Accounting and Music (Piano, Flute, Theory) tutor. I have a total of 11 years tutoring experience in both these subject areas.
I took a joint honours degree in Maths and Music from Leeds University and have specialised my tutoring since at the KS5 (AS/A2) level (AQA, Edexcel, OCR and OCR-MEI exam boards) and for Oxbridge maths admissions tests.
I have ABRSM grade 8 in Piano, Flute and Theory and have taught both performance and theory for ABRSM exams to a range of students from age 5 to adult.
I am an ACCA part-qualified accountant and have tutored accounting from 2013 at AS/A2 level.
