I believe that the key to maximising one's academic potential is practice and an interest in the subject. Using my motivation and enthusiasm, I will try to make tutoring sessions highly enjoyable and interesting. For GCSEs, the use of practice questions and past papers is also incredibly important to achieving success in exams.
Professional experience
I am a second year Medicine student at Imperial College London. With a highly academic background, I have a passion for education and am self-motivated and hardworking. I possess a wealth of experience working with young people of all ages and backgrounds. In 2014, I spent 10 weeks in South Africa volunteering on the ICS programme with Skillshare International. Based in a primary school, my main roles included tutoring pupils Maths and English in 1-to-1 sessions, assisting in the classroom, on a reading programme, and in the arts and crafts after-school programme. My interest in tutoring arose from witnessing my pupils improve dramatically from the beginning to the end of the placement.This summer I will be working as a Team Mentor at summer school with TeamCamp, assisting children entering secondary school with Maths, English and Science as well as running activities such as drama, dance and art.
Being a medical student with many extra-curricular commitments such as orchestra, voluntary work at a hospital and being a committee member for the Imperial College Fine Arts Society, I have acquired excellent time management skills and am extremely organised and reliable. I passed first year with Merit and believe that the skills and attitude I have towards my own education and work would translate extremely well into tutoring someone else.
