Tutoring approach

I will initially discuss with the tutee what they are hoping to get out of the tutoring session and then form a plan based on this. I ask tutees to share any information they have with me about their curriculum, expectations from their teachers or professors and what materials they have been given already. Lessons will vary depending on the tutees needs. I offer some discussion based sessions which can be particularly useful when developing critical evaluation skills or in comparing different models. I can also offer "mini lectures" in which I provide a lot of information or a mixture of the two (information give, discussion and working through problems). If a tutee just wishes to discuss a particular theory or aspect with me then I can also accommodate this.

 

Professional experience

I have taught in primary mainstream and SEN schools as well as teaching some classes in secondary schools. I have tutoring experience for a range of different subjects and currently work as a trainee Educational Psychologist so am very up to date with the curriculum.
