I like to really challenge students to be ambitious and go beyond what is expected of them by examiners and teachers. I've found that most written subjects have room for students to add their own personal flair, which really makes their work stand out. Encouraging creativity in humanity disciplines is the key to success for me.
I take a friendly, informal approach and my feedback is always honest but constructive.
Professional experience
I've been involved in tutoring programs throughout secondary education with younger students. I worked for 1+ year as a student ambassador at the University of York, encouraging bright children to challenge themselves and aspire to higher education through workshops. I volunteered for 2 weeks on a summer camp for disadvantaged 11 year olds teaching them the basics of sophisticated university subjects and raising their aspirations on a group and 1-to-1 basis.
I am in my third year of study, reading History at York, sitting on a 1st class degree. I have 3 A*s at A-level: English Lit, History and Sociology. I have a grade B AS-Level in Government and Politics and at GCSE I have 4 A*s, 5 As and 3 Bs, including English and maths.
