Tutoring approach

I think the key to tutoring is encouraging the pupil to have confidence in their strengths and a determination to improve on their weaknesses. Although tutoring style will differ depending on the pupil, I intend to take a hands-on approach to learning with the use of past papers, mark schemes and other learning resources. I also like to use learning games and activities so that the prospect of lessons outside of the classroom is not so tedious for pupils. I encourage students to think for themselves, while taking into consideration the differing needs of each individual pupil, adopting a pace which suits them to help them reach their full potential.

 

Professional experience

I am currently studying for an MA in History from the University of Glasgow.
In this course I have also done modules in English Literature, Comparative Literature, Theatre Studies and Psychology.

I was the president of the drama society in my school, teaching up to 30 students at a time to act, sing, dance and most importantly to have confidence in their abilities.

I was a tutor in English, one-on-one, with younger students while at school.

I have assisted students in preparing for speech and drama exams
