How to use TutorTap

The aim of this website is to make your online tutoring experience as enjoyable, effective and easy as possible.

Tutor Tap has developed a system that is incredibly user-friendly - whether you're a student or an online tutor.

Here, we're going to show you just how simple it is.

For Students

Do you feel as if a little extra tuition could help you get the grades you need? Then look no further.

First of all, we recommend signing up for a TutorTap account (click the SIGNUP button at the top-right of this page) - this will give you your own unique profile where you can manage all of your online tuition.

Then use the search bar (also at the top or on the homepage) to find your subject - there are more than 300 to choose from!

You will be presented with a list of suitable tutors, with information such as:

• Their degree level (undergraduate, masters etc.)
• Whether they have had a DBS/CRB check
• A list of subject they are able to teach
• How much their services cost per hour
• A brief biography

Once you think you've found the right online tutor for you - it's time to get in touch.

There are two ways to do this. Either send them a message using the form on the left-hand side of their profile page, or click the "Book a Lesson" button in the top-right corner.

Don't forget, you can get a free 15 minute trial with any tutor. Simply select the "request a Free Trial" option when making a booking.

For Tutors

If you're looking to earn a little extra money through becoming an online tutor, then here's what you need to do.

Like students, you will also need to register an account by clicking the SIGNUP button - but select the "I am a Tutor" option.

From here, you need to fill out your profile with all the information you feel will help attract students. Let us know your experience, qualifications and a little bit about what motivates you.

If you really want to give yourself a better chance of getting work, you should become verified.

This is so we can confirm your accreditations, and students can see how good you really are.

For Students and Tutors

So, you've signed up, arranged a lesson and now it's time to begin - what do you do?

There will be a "Go to classroom" button on your account - clicking this will take you to the TutorTap virtual classroom.

A timer will be displayed counting down until the end of the session - but don't worry, it won't begin until both parties have arrived.

You will need a webcam - either built-in to your computer or an external one - as well as a headset. This will ensure an efficient and productive online tutoring lesson. You will also need to use Google Chrome and have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed.
